Can radio airplay generate royalties?

Beyond its promotional value, radio airplay may also generate neighbouring rights, performance or other royalties, depending on the country, broadcaster, rights involved and the relevant collecting societies.

However, receiving airplay does not automatically mean that the resulting royalties will be correctly identified and paid to the appropriate rights holders. Accurate metadata, ISRCs, repertoire registrations, performer information and rights ownership data all play an important role in matching broadcasts to the correct parties.

For this reason, Syndicast places particular importance on accurate and complete release metadata before a campaign is launched.
